Arsenals only involvement in Any financial dealings with West Ham players has been in effect at only influenced the eventual price that West Ham have acquired.
Its part of the clubs history.

My big fear would be that we're so short at CB that we risk what happened with Remy. QPR thought he was staying until the last evening when Chelsea got in leaving no time for Redknapp to get a replacement. Didn't l'Arse come in on the last day for Reo Coker?
Given Ginge and Tonks are at best decent we should get a big CB in January and cover our bases.

If Reid does not want to play for West Ham then he should be thanked for his services and thought no more of, he's replaceable.
Hopefully by someone who we don't have to put up with flying half way around the world on a regular basis.

Keep going the way we are and no player should be looking to leave in January. If they do then so be it. Let them go. With what we have coming our way we should be able to attract better than what we are losing. Take note Mr Reid. His agent is probably behind all this nonsense anyway.

Let him leave in the summer if he thinks the grass will be greener for him at Arsenal. He may come to regret his decision though two or three years down the line...up to him.

He won't go in Jan for the reasons stated.... we would have to agree to the sale and noone will pay enough for it to be worth our while selling (as they can get him for free in June).... and IF he did go I think we would get someone else in.

If he goes in Jan we will have Tomkins and Collins at the back and if one of them gets injured we'll have JOB as a stand in. Fills me with dread to be honest.

Arsenal will easily match his salary requirements as they won't need to pay a transfer fee, so either way Reid will be satisifed. Plus he'll be playing Champions League football. He will just have to be happy with winning the odd League Cup here and there as that's all they will win as far as I can see.

He has been quality for us in the last few years and lets just say he earns £35,000pw now and wants £75,000pw going forward we should just bite the bullet and give him what he wants as that would equate to a difference of about £2m a year. Even if that was a 3 year contract there's not a lot you get for £6m.
The trouble G&S would have is everyone would then be knocking on their door looking for improved contracts.
I think by getting Carrol on such high wages our best players have every right to want to equal what he's on.

As I said earlier, no point letting him go in January. We’d get peanuts, and keeping him could be the difference in league positions that we’d make that money. And the upshot is, if we do end up in Europe, and the clubs interested sign other players, he might end up staying.
Absolutely no value selling him in Jan, and the club won’t do it.
